Mr. Finney created a family in his choir room. He was funny, strict and encouraging.
I wasn't a good singer, but he did let me participate in just about anything I asked -- musicals, contests, ensemble choir.
He was part of a small group of Belton teachers who made life better for me.
I remember so many songs from my three years with him. One of my favorites is the English folk song "Early One Morning."
Early one morning,
Just as the sun was rising,
I heard a maid sing,
In the valley below.
Oh, don't deceive me,
Oh, never leave me,
How could you use
A poor maiden so?
